Nurse graduated by Universidade Federal de Santa Maria / RS (1979), Masters in Nursing by the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina / SC (1990) and Ph.D. in Education, with specialization in gerontology by Universidade de Campinas / SP (2003). She is currently a professor in the Department and the Program for Graduate Nursing, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Teaches, does research and extension in the field of gerontology and mental health care in view of the process of living, be healthy, disease and death in individual and familial dimensions. The leader of the Task Force on Health Care for the Elderly.
