Gilson Luis da Cunha
Graduated in Biological Sciences by Universidade Federal do  Rio Grande do Sul (1992), Masters in Genetics and Molecular Biology, by Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1995) and Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology, by the same University (2000), with emphasis on genetic aspects of aging. He is currently professor of the Institute of Hospital Administration and Health Sciences, teaching to the discipline of Geriatric Biology graduate program in gerontology that institution. He was professor of the Faculty of biological sciences of Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in March 2001 to July 2008. The teacher of biology geriatric course of specialization in Geriatrics of the Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology, PUCRS. Currently a researcher and post-doctorate at the Laboratory of Drosophila Genetics Department of UFRGS under the supervision of Dr. Valente Gaiesky. Has experience in the field of genetics, with emphasis on Biochemical Genetics and Biology of Aging, acting on the following themes aging, longevity, Drosophila melanogaster, energy metabolism and longevity, genetic determinants of aging and longevity in eukaryotes.
